The LLF78Y100RN is a float sensor, made up of two parts, an external Float and a Level Sensor.

The Level Sensor is the core of the LLF78Y100RN and is designed to detect the presence of a liquid, and in some cases, the level of liquid above a preset limit. The Level Sensor contains a sealed, liquid-filled float enclosed within a small cylindrical chamber. A sliding arm is attached to the inner float allowing it to move between two contact points - when the arm touches one contact, the circuit is open and when it touches the other contact, the circuit is closed and an alarm signal is sent. The Level Sensor will switch off the alarm if the liquid level drops below the preset limit.

Its most common application is in water tanks, such as for water heating boilers, hot water tanks, and water supply systems. The LLF78Y100RN is designed to work on both open and closed systems, and can be used to monitor the lower and upper liquid levels.The LLF78Y100RN works on the principle of buoyancy, where the float is pushed up and down depending on the liquid level. The level sensor is connected to the float, and the two move together as the liquid level changes. When the float rises, the arm contacts the upper contact and an alarm is triggered. When the float drops, the arm stops contacting the upper contact, and the alarm is cancelled. By changing the level of the float, the LLF78Y100RN can switch between open and closed circuits and detect both the upper and lower liquid levels.
