LM10011EVM or the LM10011 Evaluation Module (EVM) is the latest addition to Texas Instruments\' (TI) widespread collection of evaluation and demonstration boards and kits. This particular EVM is used for optimizing LED solutions that require high efficiency. The LM10011EVM combines the LM10011, a 4 channel, 16 bit linear LED driver, with a real-time performance monitoring GUI. The LM10011 operates in common-anode mode and provides uniform LED current to any number of colors such as RGB, Red, Green and Blue. The LM10011EVMs has multiple applications because of its broad range of functions such as mix and match LED connections, programmable brightness control, high precision LED current control, and diagnostic indicators. It is used mainly in LED back Lighting and Front Lighting displays.The LM10011EVM is composed of several components and integrated circuits (ICs) that work together to form the module. The main integrated circuit used is the LM10011. This IC has features that provide high precision current control, precision temperature compensation and protection against abnormal over current and voltage. It is also capable of driving multiple LED colors with levels of brightness up to 16 bits.The LM10011EVM is controlled by the GUI, available through the provided software. The GUI provides information about the origin, type, and current of the LED being communicated with, as well as the time elapsed since the last LED transmit, the ambient temperature at both ends of the circuit, and the temperature turning point. The GUI also provides diagnostics in the form of a table that displays the precise status, move limit and other data for each LED being monitored. The LM10011EVM also makes a number of safety features available to ensure the protection of LEDs from over current, thermal regulation and overvoltage. TI\'s advanced temperature compensation ensures that LEDs are kept below their maximum operating temperature and the LM10011EVM can also detect when current is too low or too high and will shut down respective connections to protect any potential damages to the LED.
