LM15851NKE Application Field and Working Principle
Data Acquisition - Analog Front End (AFE) systems are used for acquiring analog input signals from a variety of sources and converting them into digital signals that can be used by digital systems. LM15851NKE is a multi-channel, multifunctional, data acquisition – analog front end integrated circuit with the ability to acquire analog data from a variety of sources including voltage, current, temperature and sound.The LM15851NKE is a 8-channel integrated AFE with a sampling rate of 110 Ksps for each channel, providing a maximum aggregate rate of 880 Ksps. It features a 24-bit Sigma-Delta (a/d) converter, a high resolution analog-to-digital converter, a low noise amplifier and a post-processing filter. The LM15851NKE is a fully integrated, low power solution that provides the highest quality output while operating at ultra-low power consumption.The integrated AFE is designed to work with a variety of input types and has the ability to seperate each input signal into its own (dedicated) stream. The Samsung-developed peripheral registers help to accurately configure each sub-circuit independently, giving the user full control over the device operation. The LM15851NKE also features over-sampling techniques and noise-shaping techniques for enhanced dynamic range. It also incorporates feedback techniques to maintain a uniform accuracy and a closed loop sampling architecture to reduce or eliminate frequency distortion introduced by the input signal.The LM15851NKE also employs a noise shaped auto-zeroing architecture which allows for a precise and precise sampling frequency for each channel and effectively eliminates sample-and-hold distortion. The post-processing filter helps to filter out external noise from the signal and to correct any DC offset or date skewing.The combination of the AFE and its integrated components, along with the peripherals and control registers, allows the LM15851NKE to be used in a wide variety of applications such as industrial process control and measurement, data acquisition, signal processing, automotive, communications and consumer products.In addition the LM15851NKE includes diagnostic capabilities, featuring various fault and overload detection aids, such as over-temperature warning and a slew-rate protection feature. It also offers extensive on-chip diagnostic capabilities, including various self-test functions, access to the on-chip diagnostic registers and a user-definable diagnostic service.
