The LM25085MY/NOPB is a highly integrated and advanced switching mode DC/DC controller in the form of PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) Voltage Regulators. It is designed for consumer, industrial and communications applications such as e-shuttles, personal digital assistants (PDAs), battery-backed systems, portable test equipment and other embedded applications. It is highly efficient, making it ideal for applications which are power sensitive, while providing cost savings and greater reliability.

The LM25085MY/NOPB uses a variable frequency, variable duty cycle control scheme along with a single-ended topology. The device contains all the necessary functional blocks such as an integrated driver, voltage sense amplifier, voltage loop compensation, and current limitation. It also provides a wide range of integral hardware and software protection features, including thermal shutdown, overvoltage (UVLO), cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and a patented Frequency Load Transient (FLT) Adaptive technology.

The device integrates N-MOSFET driver circuitry, allowing it to be used in either buck or boost configurations with a single-ended input/output voltage. It has an integrated voltage loop compensation network, and features a simple to use resistive-divider for setting the output voltage. The device also features a pull-low pulse-width-modulation (PWM) signal for externally controlling the output voltage.

The LM25085MY/NOPB is designed to provide the user with an economical, high-performance solution for intermediate and low-power DC/DC voltage regulation. Its integrated driver and voltage sense amplifier allow the device to operate in a buck or boost configuration. Its variable frequency, variable duty cycle control scheme, combined with the single-ended topology allows for a tight line/load regulation as well as good rejection of input voltage ripple, resulting in a high level of power conversion efficiency.

The LM25085MY/NOPB offers an accurate and fast over-voltage (OVL) sense circuit and power-on-reset feature to ensure reliable system turn-on following a power interruption. The device comes with integrated thermal protection and soft-start features to provide protection against short circuit and over-current conditions. It also features an adjustable current limit circuit for controlling the maximum output current and for optimizing the converter efficiency.

In addition, the LM25085MY/NOPB features a patented Frequency Load Transient (FLT) Adaptive technique, which provides superior output voltage regulation in the presence of high-frequency load transients. The FLT Adaptive technique also enables the device to approach the ideal constant on-time control algorithm, resulting in improved efficiency, reduced switching noise, lower output voltage ripple, and better dynamic response during load transients.
