LM258AST Application Field and Working Principle
OP Amps
LM258AST is the series of Operational Amplifer (Op Amps) that has two inputs and one output. It is mainly used for signal conditioning and signal amplification. This particular series is designed for very low level current capabilities allowing input signals as low as 3uA and producing output signals up to 25mA. This allows for a wide range of applications, such as precision audio filters, amplifier circuits, transducer systems, and power control. The maximum allowable common-mode and differential mode voltage is ±2.5, and the maximum output voltage is 25mA.
Working Principle
The principle of an operational amplifier is based on an ideas transistors and a differential amplifier. This type of amplifier provides gain and impedance level shifting between the two input and output points .It follows that when in voltage difference is present between two input leads, the amount of current in one equals the amount in the other and hence the relationship gain of the system will be high. The LM258AST Op Amp incorporates a P-MOSFET pair that acts as the gain control elements.
Buffer Amps
The LM258AST Buffers Amps provide a high degree of control over the amplifier\'s voltage and current gains. These buffers are designed to act as a voltage level shifter between two series of interconnected points with two different levels or types of voltage or current. Buffers can also enable slaved operation of the entire system or force a certain series of inputs to carry a specific amount of current. The LM258AST Buffers also come with protection against over-voltage and short-circuit protection.
