The LM3263EVM is a cost-effective evaluation board designed to prototyping low cost, high performance off-line SMPS designs. The board provides users with a platform to design and evaluate the performance of offline designs using the LM3263 IC.
The LM3263 features integrated primary-side control (DAC and two channels of peak current), primary-side overvoltage protection (OVP) and secondary-side overvoltage protection (OVP), which makes it ideal to create products with minimum component count.
The Evaluation Board supplies highly reliable and superior power to various power applications such as energy-efficient adapters, set-top boxes, consumer electronics and lighting applications.
Application Field
The LM3263EVM evaluation board provides the designers with a quick-start platform to evaluate the performance of low cost, high performance off-line SMPS using LM3263 IC. It enables the evaluation of primary and secondary side OVP, DAC/auto-detect and peak current control by 2 channels.
The evaluation board can be used to design converters that are suitable for wide input voltage range, single- or double-ended flyback topologies, quasi-resonant flyback topologies, constant on-time buck topologies and hysteretic constant frequency mode operation.
Working Principle
The LM3263 Evaluation Board uses a low component count, high performance off-line SMPS based on the LM3263 IC. The board consists of a power supply section and a voltage regulation section. The power supply section comes equipped with power components which provide the necessary voltage, current and thermal protection. The voltage regulation section consists of components that ensure the stability of the power supply and the protection of the circuit.
The LM3263 IC is the heart of the board and is used to control the operation of the DC/DC security system. It features an integrated primary-side control (DAC and two channels of peak current) and primary-side OVP as well as secondary-side overvoltage protection (OVP). In addition, the LM3263 offers integrated phase-shift blanking, automatic output voltage detection and automatic over-current protection.
The Evaluation Board allows the user to program the IC’s DAC, select the current control option and output voltage setting. It can also be used to assess the different operating modes of the IC. The user can then optimize the power supply using the LM3263’s features like digital scaling, maximum output power, soft start time and soft stop time.
The evaluation board is designed for off-line SMPS designs with a wide input voltage range and a single- or double-ended flyback topology. It is also suitable for quasi-resonant flyback topologies, constant on-time buck topologies and hysteretic constant frequency mode operation.
