LM53601LAEVM is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the LM53601, a high-voltage monolithic controller used for off-line, isolated DC to DC and AC to DC power supplies. The board is provided with an easily accessible board with a user-friendly interface for testing.The LM53601LAEVM evaluation boards are designed to give users a comprehensive understanding of the LM53601 controller, its features, and its application in power supplies. The board features an audio frequency AC primary side converter, wherein a DC voltage is obtained even though its input is from an AC power source. Power factor correction is also included, while two voltage outputs are possible through a secondary side converter.The LM53601LAEVM evaluation board kit also includes a full set of comprehensive test signals, easy access to primary and secondary control pins, output sense and feedback circuit, a few test components with inputs for setting voltage, and a full list of options applicable for testing. It also features advanced safety features, like lock-out reset (LOR), inrush current limit, and thermal protection for output current limit.The LM53601LAEVM evaluation board is a suitable platform for demonstrating the LM53601 controller’s capabilities. It is suitable for low- to high-power, off-line isolated, DC/DC and AC/DC SMPS, as it provides the entire required range of components and design flexibility. The LM53601LAEVM board is well-suited for demonstrative testing, design development and characterization, due to its comprehensive and fully documented design.The LM53601LAEVM is designed to operate from a wide range of power sources, including 20 to 40V secondary side and 400 to 600V primary side. It has a maximum primary side peak current rating of 25 A, while the output voltage can go up to 600V with up to 25A of peak current, depending upon the input voltage range.The LM53601LAEVM evaluation board comprises of several components, which are connected in a synchroPHASE architecture. This architecture is designed to provide an extensive phase response which helps to reduce variation of the output voltage course along the entire load operation range.The power stage of the LM53601LAEVM is a half-bridge topology with a primary side current limit, while the secondary side features a PFC and CV/CC (constant voltage/constant current) control circuits. The primary side converter contains a few components, like diode, FETs, transformer, and a primary inductor. The secondary side is protected by a Maximal Peak Limit (MPL) MOSFET, which helps to regulate the output voltage.In order to give the user maximum testing versatility, the LM53601LAEVM also features two opto-couplers, with their input pins connected to the MCU digital I/Os. These pins can be used to program the maximum output voltage and output current limit, with the voltage range and current limit settings enabled manually.The LM53601LAEVM is equipped with a powerful STM32 microcontroller, which helps to control both the primary and secondary side. It eliminates the need of an external microcontroller, and hence reduces design complexity. The STM32 processor also contains various built-in safety features, like power-on reset, input undervoltage protection, output overcurrent protection, and thermal protection for the output current limit.The LM53601LAEVM is designed for use in a variety of applications, including personal computers, industrial power supplies, and consumer electronics.
