The LM53601MQDSXTQ1 is a synchronous controller and driver IC designed for use in DC-DC buck, boost and SEPIC configurations and is part of the LM5360 family of PMICs (Power Management ICs). This chip operates from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 10.2V, offering up to 4A of output current and a range of programmable features.

Working Principle

The LM53601MQDSXTQ1 is a synchronous buck regulator, meaning that it is capable of regulating both voltage and current output across a wide range of input voltages. It is controlled by an internal charge pump and is composed of two power switches, an internal error amplifier and a PFM control circuit.

The device operates by driving the switches in a boosted mode during the switching cycle. As part of this, the internal error amplifier and PFM control compare the output voltage to a feedback voltage, and if the output voltage has exceeded the set voltage, the duty cycle of the switches is reduced until the output voltage is regulated to the reference voltage.
