The LM53635QEVM provides complete control of both outputs including power saving mode with DCM (Discontinuous Conduction Mode), skip-cycle mode for external switching, low-power start, overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage protection (UVP), short circuit protection (SCP) and thermal overload protection (TOP). This versatility makes it suitable for a variety of applications like USB power supply, adapter, LED driver, video game console, battery charger, DC motor driver, medical systems, set-top box, etc.

The working principle of the LM53635QEVM utilizes the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) mode for power conversion. The PWM is a technique used for controlling electricity and is characterized by a switched output signal with a duty cycle that varies from 0 to 100%. PWM has three states: high, low and no voltage, depending on the duty cycle. It is commonly used to vary the voltage, frequency, and current in power converters. The output voltage of the power supply is compared against a reference voltage in a feedback loop, and the difference between the reference and the output is used to adjust the duty cycle of the PWM signal, resulting in a higher or lower voltage output as needed.
