The LM6171AIMX is a low-power, single-supply voltage instrumentation amplifier with a wide input common-mode range. The device is a high precision, low-distortion operational amplifier, available in SO and MSOP packages.

The LM6171AIMX offers low common-mode offset voltage and low noise. The device also features an enhanced input bias current which is optimized for a variety of power and speed requirements. The device features a single-pole active output and a level-shift variable gain which provides gain up to 200 V/V. The device also features an integrated current source which improves noise performance. Additionally, the device features an enabled zero-crossover feature which allows for low drift operation.

The LM6171AIMX is designed to provide wide dynamic range, low distortion, high speed and efficiency to applications such as: instrumentation amplifiers, sensor monitoring, and analog-to-digital conversion. The device is also well suited for programmable instrumentation, stabilized power supplies, and digital signal processing. The device is fully specified for operation from a single supply voltage of from 2.7V to 5.25V.

Working Principle

The LM6171AIMX is a two-stage instrumentation amplifier which utilizes a resistive feedback network. The first stage amplifies the differential input signal generated by the two inputs. One lead of each input is connected to a PVC-DRM amplifier which serves as a differential amplifier. The other lead of each input is connected to a resistor network. The output of the first stage amplifier is then buffered by a voltage follower stage which is driven by the feedback network. The output of the second stage provides the amplified signal.

The second stage amplifier utilizes a single-pole active output stage to minimize distortion and noise. The single-pole active output stage offers a wide dynamic range and excellent distortion performance. Additionally, the active output offers a low input offset voltage and excellent rejection of interference. The device also features a level-shift variable gain which offers up to 200mV/V. This level-shift feature enables the LM6171AIMX to operate over a wide range of input common-mode voltages.
