The LM75AEVM is a complete evaluation board which allows users to quickly evaluate the performance of a high temperature operation sensor, the LM75A. It enables easy user interface to exercise such functions as temperature sensing, thermal alarm, over temperature shutdown, PWM demand control and digital output. Each of the board’s features are controlled by on-board potentiometers. The LM75AEVM would be applicable for industrial, medical, and automotive applications where temperature sensing is needed.
The LM75A temperature sensing device operates analog, PWM temperature sensing and digital output in order to detect temperature. Its sensing range from -55°C to +125°C, making it suitable for the use in extreme temperatures. In order to accurately sense temperature, the LM75A has an accuracy of ±2°C with a 10 ms response time. It also incorporates a shutdown mode to facilitate temperature monitoring.
The working principle behind the LM75A temperature sensing device is based on the voltage-temperature coefficient (VTC). The VTC defines the relation between the input voltage and the temperature. As the temperature increases, the voltage dispersion increases linearly. Furthermore, a VTC is developed for both hot and cold side modes to account for different PWM or A/D conversions. By monitoring this voltage and correlating it to the temperature, the LM75A device can detect the temperature of the environment.
The LM75AEVM board has several features that allow users to easily customize and control the LM75A device. For starters, users can select voltage and resistance values to optimize performance. It also supports hot and cold sides as well as 3.3 V and 5 V supply voltage. Furthermore, users can select total temperature sensing range and sensitivity for the device using on-board potentiometers.
The LM75AEVM board also has features for enhancing the user interface. Its thermal alarm and overtemperature shutdown feature can be monitored using LED’s. It also supports remote sensing of temperature using industry standard Sockets. Its on-board sigma delta converter further enables users to select multiple output formats such as 0 to 5 V or 0 to 10 V for PWM and digital outputs.
The LM75AEVM board is an all-in-one solution which offers the users an easy-to-use platform to quickly evaluate the performance of the LM75A sensor. With its on board digital and analog interface, the board offers precise temperature sensing capabilities for a wide range of high and low temperature based applications. With features such as thermal alarm and temperature shutdown, the LM75AEVM board offers an effective solution to monitor high temperature environments.
