The LM7812ACT is a monolithic linear voltage regulator with an input voltage range of 12V to 25V. It consists of an adjustable voltage regulator and three voltage reference blocks. The voltage regulator comprises of an error amplifier, a pass transistor and a current limit circuit. The three reference blocks provide internal reference voltages of 1.24V, 1.5V and 1.8V.The LM7812ACT regulates its output voltage by comparing the voltages from its internal reference blocks with a reference voltage from an external voltage source. The difference between the two voltages is amplified by the error amplifier and used to control the pass transistor, which then regulates the output voltage to the desired level.The output voltage is also protected by a current limit circuit and an internal protection feature.
