The LMH6658MAX is a high-speed, low-noise, high-efficiency amplifier ideal for use in instrumentation, op amps, buffer amps, and a range of other applications. Designed and manufactured by National Semiconductor, this amplifier is a low power, high-precision component with a wide operating range. It provides excellent linearity, power efficiency and low distortion rates; features that enable it to be used in the most demanding applications.

The LMH6658MAX offers two distinct configurations – single and dual. The single version features a low-noise, low-power stereo architecture with an efficiency of up to 92%. The dual version has an efficiency rating of up to 95% and offers higher input and output power. Both versions are available with either 3.2V or 1.5V power supplies.

The device is composed of three major blocks – the signal conditioning block, the linear amplifier block, and the output buffer amplifier block. The signal conditioning block provides signal attenuation and gain control, while the linear amplifier block includes an on-chip differential power amplifier with high power conversion efficiency and low distortion. The output buffer amplifier block ensures high-frequency stability and large signal handling capability.

The LMH6658MAX operates at a frequency range of up to 300MHZ. This frequency range allows for applications requiring high sampling rates and wide bandwidths. The amplifier also supports a wide range of gain settings from 0dB to 27dB and can be adjusted by changing the feedback network. Furthermore, it supports a wide input range from a single-ended 0.2V to a differential ±2.0V.

The LMH6658MAX has a very high gain accuracy of 0.2dB for the single and dual versions making it suitable for use in precision audio applications such as audio mixers, studio effects Processors, and musical instrument preamps. It also features a low VOS of 0.02V and a low input offset voltage of 0.5mV. It is suitable to be used in portable and mobile equipment, pro audio applications, and high-end consumer electronics.

The device is also capable of providing very low output noise levels of 75uVrms for the single version and 125uVrms for the dual version. This makes it suitable for circuit designs that require minimum noise for higher accuracy measurements. This makes it suitable for applications such as Bluetooth headsets and personal multimedia players.

The LMH6658MAX also provides an output stage with wide bandwidth that enables it to properly drive low impedance loads up to 18.5V/uS and capacitive loads up to 70pF with no phase shift. Its wide bandwidth enables it to be used in space-limited applications such as cell phones, PDAs and handheld audio equipment. Its wide frequency range and high CMRR also make it an ideal device for high-end video (HSVCD/HDTV) and wireless base station applications.
