The LMPC0025 Magnetic Sensor is a position, proximity, and speed (modules) sensor that reflects strong linearity, repeatability, and accuracy performance. This sensor utilises the difference between the strength of a magnetic field at its present position versus a reference point to measure distance.

In general terms, the LMPC0025 operates by evaluating a specific field to determine the presence of an object. This comes from a detection range of 8mm. This is possible by identifying necessary target qualities using three sensing elements; keeping track of the sequence of these.

The sensor is linear in nature with a resolution of 0.1mm/bit. It also has an impressive repeatability performance of plus or minus 0.5mm. Significant to the device’s accuracy is its low drift characteristics. As such, the LMPC0025 has a relatively high precision rating

The magnetic sensor comes with a variety of features such as a non-contact design with no motion wear, low power consumption for energy savings, and a small form factor. It also performs well in applications requiring high temperature sensing. Each of the three sensing elements has an accuracy threshold making it possible to identify a target object’s specific properties.

Essentially, it is designed to detect magnetic fields in complex applications. As such, it is ideal for industrial and automotive uses such as controlling the position of a motor, sensing the speed of a conveyor belt, or detecting the presence of a rotating shaft. The LMPC0025 can also be used for monitoring fluid levels, controlling valve operations, or determining distance and position.

In terms of its working principle, the LMPC0025 uses an architecture made up of three AIITS (analog in logic input timing stages). Which introduce the sensor to software and enable it to receive various commands to adjust the way it responds to differing magnetic fields and thus measure position and distance.

Each of the three sensing elements (AIITS) works independently to detect various values from the magnetic field. Additionally, this magnetic field detection can also be used to determine the speed of an object. Each of these elements has a predetermined accuracy level to ensure further accuracy.

The LMPC0025 also features a bi-directional device communication interface. This allows the sensor to be connected to a variety of devices and read/write different kinds of data into its registry, including the desired target position. Using this interface, the LMPC0025 can determine the exact position of an object and adjust accordingly.

Finally, the sensor has a self-calibration mode and is also protected from EMI and transient voltages, due to its built-in EMI filter. Consequently, the LMPC0025 is well suited for applications that require high accuracy and/or demanding weather conditions.

In conclusion, the LMPC0025 is a highly accurate position, proximity, and speed (modules) magnetic sensor that is well suited for uses such as controlling the position of a motor, detecting fluid levels, or determining distance and position. This is achieved through the use of three AIITS that detect and respond to magnetic fields. The sensor also has both a bi-directional device communication interface and self-calibration mode, which both allow the sensor to accurately determine position and distance.
