The LMR12020XSDEVM/NOPB is an integrated, off-line, low-power power supply evaluation module system. The system offers a low-power, highly integrated solution for applications requiring DC/DC or AC/DC power supply topologies. It offers a range of features and functions including adjustable output voltage, overvoltage protection, low-value oscillator components, short-circuit protection, and a variety of other advanced features. It includes an advanced current-mode power supply controller, the LMR12020XS, and two power modules, the XS12A0512A and XS12A0312A. The LMR12020XS provides fixed PWM lipo output voltage and integrates several features such as programmable over voltage protection and adjustable output voltage. The XS12A0512A and XS12A0312A provide high-efficiency, low-noise power conversion.
The LMR12020XSDEVM/NOPB is designed to provide a low-power, low-cost, off-line solution in applications requiring up to 500mA output current. The power system offers a variety of features and functions to support many applications. The power module is adjustable for a variety of output voltages, up to 24V, and the LMR12020XS can be used for voltage regulation and provides adjustable PWM switching frequency up to 3MHz. The XS12A0512A module includes power FETs on-chip and provides a high-efficiency, low-noise power conversion. The XS12A0312A module includes power FETs and an integrated shunt resistor for current-limiting protection. The power system also includes an adjustable overvoltage protection (OVP) circuit to prevent excessive voltage buildup at the output. The adjustable output voltage and OVP circuit allow the system to be used in a variety of applications, including DC/DC step-down and AC/DC isolation topologies.
The LMR12020XSDEVM/NOPB operates by utilizing the current-mode control of the LMR12020XS. This controller converts the input DC voltage into a PWM output that is then used to control the switch of the power FETs in the XS12A0512A and XS12A0312A modules. The PWM output is used to pulse the MOSFETs that provide power to the output. The current-mode control solution ensures fast transient response and throughput with less settling time than conventional control methods.
