Working Principle
The LMZ8-RW50 is based on a constant current driver control scheme with diode emulation technology. The module adopts a constant output voltage (350V DC) and a constant current control, providing advanced protection functions and increased reliability. The device works by controlling the instantaneous peak voltage on the primary side of the transformer. When the device is powered on, the voltage is at its lowest. As the applied voltage increases, the output current proportionally increases. This results in a constant output power and high drive efficiency over a wide input voltage range.
The LMZ8-RW50 module also features active PFC (Power Factor Correction). This prevents excessive inrush current and allows the device to have a high-power factor of 0.9 or higher. The power factor can be increased to 0.98 or higher when used with an output power factor calibration (OPFC) circuit. This can reduce the power dissipation of power supply systems and extend LED life.
The LMZ8-RW50 module also provides built-in over temperature and over current protection. Over temperature protection limits the output power in the event of high temperatures, while over current protection shuts off the output current in the event of an over current condition.
