Optoisolators are divided into two main types - transistor output optoisolators and photovoltaic output optoisolators. LOC111STR optoisolators are photovoltaic output optoisolators.

Photovoltaic output optoisolators are designed to provide an electrical isolation between the input and output of the circuit. They are composed of an LED connected to a photodiode and capacitor.
