Working Principle

The LP2982AIM5X-5.0/NOPB is a linear voltage regulator that operates by means of an internal bandgap reference and an error amplifier. The device is constructed in hafnium dioxide (HfO2) technology with a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO).TheLP2982AIM5X-5.0/NOPB consists of an integrated voltage regulator and voltage reference, both of which are used to regulate the output voltage of the device. The voltage regulator consists of an error amplifier and a high-current FET. The error amplifier continuously monitors the output voltage by comparing it to the voltage reference voltage. The error amplifier then adjusts the gate voltage of the high-current FET to maintain the desired output voltage. The voltage reference is configured using the internal VCO and the band gap reference circuit.The output voltage is adjusted by the external resistors connected to the error amplifier’s FB pin.
