LP2985AIM5-3.6/NOPB is a low quiescent current, high accuracy, low noise linear regulator. It is a highly integrated Linear Voltage Regulator. It integrates a low noise, high PSRR error amplifier with a well-characterized low dropout voltage regulator. This Error Amplifier and linear regulator operate using a single external resistor to set the output voltage, which can be set up to 5.25V. The low operating current is primarily enabled by its embedded power down feature.

The regulator circuit is designed with a series voltage reference in the feedback loop to provide excellent output accuracy with low quiescent current consumption.The internal Control Block monitors the output voltage and adjusts the reference, output voltage and current to provide a fixed output voltage. The Control Block also monitors the die temperature and automatically reduces the output current in order to limit the junction temperature, providing safe and reliable operation.When the load current exceeds the maximum output current, the LDO enters current limit and the load current is regulated at incremental steps. The maximum output current and start-up current of LP2985AIM5-3.6/NOPB are 38mA and 0.3mA respectively.An accurate output voltage can be achieved by setting the correct voltage reference and feedback resistor. A threshold voltage is used to allow an off-switch to turn off LP2985AIM5-3.6/NOPB in a low power standby mode.The LP2985AIM5-3.6/NOPB also has Thermal Overload Protection that limits the junction temperature when the LP2985AIM5-3.6/NOPB reaches an excessive temperature.
