LP2996MX/NOPB is a low-power voltage regulator targeted for battery-powered applications. This device is able to provide up to 1.5A of output current and is ideal for applications where an extremely low quiescent-current power solution is needed. The LP2996MX/NOPB device consists of two internal low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators, each with accurate output voltage regulation and enable/shutdown logic control. It is designed to provide multiple regulated outputs and enables in a very small size of WSON or UMLP packages. The operating temperature range of this chip is between -40°C and +125°C, and its adjustable voltage output range is between 0.8V and 3.3V.

Working Principle

The LP2996MX/NOPB device is a low-power, high-performance voltage regulator designed for applications requiring very low quiescent current. The device features two independent low-dropout regulators, each constructed of a p-channel field effect transistor as the pass device, and a voltage reference. The voltage of each internal regulator is programmed by a resistive divider network that can be connected at the OUT1 and OUT2 pins. The default output voltage, VOUT1 and VOUT2, can be pre-set with the external resistors and adjusted with the override pins, VOUT1/OVR1 and VOUT2/OVR2. Additionally, the device can be operated in shutdown mode to reduce power consumption by connecting the ENABLE pin to GND.
