LP3873ES-1.8

The LP3873ES-1.8 is a linear voltage regulator designed to provide a constant output voltage with a minimum of external components. It operates from an input voltage range of 1.8V to 3.6V, supporting all modern microprocessors and logic circuits, and is capable of output currents up to 0.5A.

Working Principle

The LP3873ES-1.8 provides current or voltage regulation of an input voltage source. In the case of a current regulator, an external resistor sets the output current while the voltage regulator is used to maintain a constant output voltage. The voltage regulator consists of an error amplifier connected to a pass transistor whose base-emitter junction functions as a voltage reference. The error amplifier compares the output voltage to a reference voltage set by this junction and adjusts the pass transistor’s current as needed to maintain the output voltage.The LP3873ES-1.8 features an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8V to 1.8V. It has excellent load and line regulation characteristics, with a load regulation of 0.4% and a line regulation of 0.1%. The LP3873ES-1.8 is a dual ( positive and negative ) output linear voltage regulator that can be used as a linear powered single output voltage regulator or as a selectable dual output linear voltage regulator.
