The LP8501TMEEV is a high-performance, fully programmable LED driver for driving up to eight LEDs in parallel connection. It is designed to be used in automotive, general illumination, or multi-channel LED control applications. It features a wide 37 V to 48 V input voltage range, low-ripple current, and PWM dimming control, allowing it to be used in a wide variety of projects. It is an ideal choice for controlling lighting in automotive, industrial, display, and other applications that require multiple LEDs.The LP8501TMEEV utilizes two 6-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) to provide high-precision current regulation, up to +/- 0.1% accuracy. The DACs also allow for display and pointer dimming, as well as multiple simultaneous dimming functions. In addition, it includes a low-dropout voltage regulator, a thermal overload protection circuit, and an adjustable power limit. Its advanced features make it one of the most versatile LED drivers currently available.The LP8501TMEEV has three different modes of operation. The first mode is called the static mode and is used for static LED displays, such as those used in automotive dashboards or lighting displays. This mode does not require the use of a controller or software. In static mode, the LED driver can be configured to provide a constant current output to multiple LEDs, up to eight.The second mode of operation is the dynamic mode and is used for controlling multiple LEDs with a controller or software. In this mode, the LED driver is connected to a microprocessor or other control device, and controlled through the two DACs. This allows for digital control of the LED driver and its current output, providing precise digital dimming capabilities.The third mode of operation is the timer mode, which is used for running multiple LEDs in sequence. This allows for synchronization of multiple LEDs, such as those found in automotive indicators.
