LP8545SQE/NOPB is an individual PMIC - LED Driver that offers an unprecedented level of efficiency and robust performance. It is integrated with a high-efficiency DC-DC converter, allowing for multiple LED channels, topology-independent powering of LEDs and enables independent configuration settings across multiple LED channels.

LP8545SQE/NOPB provides a complete design solution, replacing bulky components and providing low parts cost and a faster time-to-market. The advanced LP8545SQE/NOPB module includes a built-in system protection and several user programmable parameters, such as the LED current limit, LED forward voltage limit and much more. All the configuration parameters can be adapted to the specific product application.

Application Field

The LP8545SQE/NOPB is designed to enable an increased level of feature integration for mobile devices and other applications, such as notebooks, digital cameras, and LCD TVs. It also enables LED color mapping content and picture formats and features such as LED backlight dimming, LED picture or video outstanding white or black lighting levels.

Generally, the LP8545SQE/NOPB improving lighting efficiency and removing unnecessary power losses, allowing for improved battery life and greater design flexibility. Additionally, the upstream converter can be configured to support one or two constant-current LED channels and the module can be configured with up to 10.3 output voltage levels with Load Disconnect circuit (LDC) protection.

Working Principle

The LP8545SQE/NOPB has a built-in one or two independent LED drivers that can be used to drive LEDs in series, parallel or an array configuration. Each LED driver can be independently configured to optimize efficiency, brightness and cost. The upstream converter powers the LED drivers and provides energy savings and the fast response.

The LP8545SQE/NOPB\'s internal FETs switch the DC-DC converter output current directly to the external LEDs, allowing for optimal efficiency. The LP8545SQE/NOPB\'s intelligent architecture eliminates the need for external components for high voltage isolation. This also allows for a smaller device footprint and lessens power losses.

The LP8545SQE/NOPB supports both pulse-width modulation (PWM) and analog modulation. The PWM option allows for up to 12 analog signal inputs that can be used to control the LED brightness and/or color with independent setting options. The analog option provides an even smaller device footprint without any external components and uses I2C or USB to control the LED current.

The LP8545SQE/NOPB also provides LED current intensity support for up to 16 LED levels and a power conservation feature that allows the LED driver to reduce LED current when the device is in a low-power or standby state. The illumination range can be further enhanced by using multiple LEDs driving multiple strings. Finally, the LP8545SQE/NOPB also features over-current and thermal protection, allowing for greater reliability.

The LP8545SQE/NOPB provides an efficient, robust, and easy-to-implement solution for LED lighting requirements in mobile and other applications. It enables high efficiency, requiring lower power and more compact designs, while eliminating the cost and power losses associated with bulky external components.
