Motion Sensors - GyroscopesThe LPR450AL is a three-axis gyroscope which uses a sensor which senses the angular rate of the rotating body. It can be used for a wide range of applications including aviation, navigation, consumer product, industrial, and military applications.The LPR450AL is based on an optimized microelectromechanical (MEMS) design, which relies on detecting the Coriolis force which is generated when a mass is subjected to an angular acceleration. The sensing element uses two vibrating MEMS, which move in two perpendicular directions, parallel to the axis of rotation. When it is subjected to an angular rate, the angular rate sensing element detects the Coriolis force and generates a voltage which is proportional to the angular rate of rotation.The LPR450AL is designed to operate in a wide range of temperature and can measure angular rates from -2000°/s to +2000°/s with an accuracy of 0.05°/s and a resolution of 0.1°/s. It is calibrated during manufacturing so that it can be used with minimal setup.The LPR450AL can be used for a variety of applications including heading and attitude determination, motion detection and tracking, stabilization, motion compensation, navigation, and autonomous guidance. It is also finding application in consumer products, such as game controllers, robots, and virtual reality headsets.In heading and attitude determination, the LPR450AL can be used to detect the angular velocity and direction of motion.
