The LS1043ASE7QQA is a processor module of the Freescale\'s QorIQ LS series. It is based on the 32-bit ARM Cortex-A72 processor core, and is robustly implemented in 45nm process technology with a wide feature set including dual-core processing with four threads per core, 2MB of L2 cache, and up to 4GB of DDR4 memory. The LS1043ASE7QQA operates in a 0.95V to 1.1V range, supporting wide dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) to facilitate power and performance tuning.

Working Principle
The processor module combines Quad-Core Arm Cortex-A72 cores with an integrated PMU, DDR4 memory controller and display controller, optimized for embedded applications. This processor module enables real-time performance and savings of up to 30 % compared to the competition. The module has four levels of hardware-protected memory for critical applications with hardware-enforced access control and range checks.
It supports up to five different levels of voltage and frequency scaling for improved power management. It can also dynamically switch between XPORTS and ARM DMA to perform high-speed data streaming between external devices and the integrated DDR4 controller. The module is also equipped with a virtual memory system allowing for simultaneous access by multiple processors.
The integrated power management unit (PMU) provides power sequencing and management, including voltage monitoring, voltage scaling and dynamic power management. It has the ability to enable and disable system power rails, enable and disable processor cores, enable and disable on-chip and off-chip components, and establish wakeup triggers. The PMU enables the processor module to enter low power modes, such as standby or snooze.
The processor module is also equipped with an integrated NEON multimedia engine. This is a highly parallelized SIMD processor which can process four 8-bit, two 16-bit, or one 32-bit instruction per cycle. This allows for higher performance implementations of multimedia applications such as video decoding, image processing, and audio processing. It is also designed for hardware virtualization support, allowing for the execution of multiple guest operating systems to run on the same processor.
The LS1043ASE7QQA processor module also offers a wide range of technologies for enhanced security, including a hardware encryption engine, a security processing unit (SPU), secure boot, and secure erase. The SPU provides hardware-based encryption processing for secure transmission of sensitive data across networks. The security boot feature enables secure booting of a system, while the secure erase feature allows secure erasure of a device’s data.
