Motion Sensors – IMUs, or Inertial Measurement Units, are devices designed to detect physical movement, and measure and record position and orientation changes. An example of an IMU is the LSM6DS3USTR.
This tri-axis accelerometer and gyroscope is an application-specific system-in-package solution that combines two digital 3-axis accelerometers and two digital 3-axis gyroscopes in one product. It is designed specifically for Mobile, Wearable, and Portable applications and provides a system solution that simplifies system layout, reduces power consumption and reduces the size and weight of the device.
The device has a power supply range of 1.62 V to 3.6 V and is able to accurately measure acceleration up to ±16 g and angular rate up to ±2000°/s. It also features enhanced 32 level FIFO which can be used to manage data coming from external sources, such as pressure, temperature, and humidity. The device is also equipped with a digital interface supporting I2C and SPI.
The LSM6DS3USTR belongs to a family of devices using a System in Package (SiP) process technology. This technology combines the various components of a system into a single package.
