The LT1026CS8#PBF is a monolithic integrated circuit utilizing Semiconductor Corp\'s proprietary epitaxial planar process. Working Principle of LT1026CS8#PBF

The LT1026CS8#PBF uses two current sources to provide a wide output voltage adjustment range and high output current capability within its rated power dissipation. It operates from an input voltage source from 2.7V to 20V and provides an adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 5V. The current-limited high-side MOSFET is coupled as either a low dropout linear regulator, or an ideal diode. In addition, a low dropout linear regulator is built into the device. The power switch can be programmed to either linear, regulated or off. When it is in regulated mode, the current source provides excellent regulation even for large output voltage excursions.

Meanwhile, the current-limited high-side MOSFET operates as an ideal diode. It is a non-linear structure, which causes the output voltage to deviate from its targeted value when the load current is low. To avoid this, a hysteretic power switch can be used to increase the current limit. This ensures that the ideal diode provides accurate regulation for light load applications. Furthermore, the LT1026CS8#PBF also includes an over-voltage protection circuit and an under-voltage lockout circuit to protect the load from unexpected changes in the input voltage and the output voltage.
