Introduction

The LT1027ECS8-5#TRPBF is a three-terminal adjustable voltage reference for precision applications such as high-accuracy power-supply-monitoring and current-loop-control systems. The device is well suited for systems where the output voltage must remain highly stable during power-supply-switching transients and in the presence of changing temperature and load conditions.The voltage reference serves as a basis for incoming sensitivity, reference input and offset adjustments, providing precision vs. temperature over the full industrial temperature range. When connected to a stable regulator or amplifier, very accurate voltages can be obtained. It is ideal for high-accuracy instrumentation, panel-meter and DAC references.

Application Field

Working Principle

The circuit diagram of the adjustable voltage reference LT1027ECS8-5#TRPBF is shown in Figure 1. The device is a 3-terminal adjustable voltage reference. The reference voltage is connected between the output pin (VREF) and the ADJ terminal. When a current flows through this voltage reference from the output pin to the ADJ terminal, the voltage across the reference, VREF, is reduced by the amount of the reference current times the voltage reference impedance. This reduction in voltage at the output is sensed by an error amplifier which has its non-inverting input connected to the output through the ADJ resistor. The output of the error amplifier is feed back to the reference and the appropriate current is established to produce the output voltage set by the potentiometer connected between the ADJ and GND terminals.The output voltage of the LT1027ECS8-5#TRPBF is externally adjustable over the range of 0.2V to 28V by controlling the value of the potentiometer. The LT1027ECS8-5#TRPBF has a typical offset voltage of 2.5 mV, which is independent of the output voltage setting and a temperature coefficient of 10ppm/° C. This temperature coefficient is a combination of the intrinsic temperature coefficient of the reference and the temperature coefficient of the ADJ resistor.
