LT1073CN8-5#PBF is a monolithic switching regulator. This integrated circuit operates on input voltage of 8.5 volts that can be relatively large, and it can supply fixed output voltage of 5 V. The LT1073CN8-5#PBF ensures a clean output voltage of 5V and can handle loads up to 800 mA.The switching regulator consist of an inductor, an 85 - 95% effluent diode, an output capacitor, an input capacitor and a switching control/comparator circuit.The inductor is used to store energy from the input voltage and deliver it to the output load. The power MOSFET switch on/off determines the size of inductor as duty cycle of the circuit.The diode is used to convey energy from the inductor to the output load when the switch is off. The output capacitor is used to maintain the output voltage. The input capacitor is used to check the input voltage ripple and noise.The switching control/comparator circuit is the heart of the circuit and contains a differential amplifier, an oscillator and other drivers.LT1073CN8-5#PBF has several application fields. Firstly, it can be used to establish an efficient DC-DC power conversion. It also provides an efficient buck regulator in lup/quarter VCC and a current-mode buck regulator in I2C applications.
