LT1074CT#PBF is a high performance micropower DC/DC Step-Down switching regulator that boost or discharge at a constant frequency and can convert 3V to 42V voltage source to output an stable fixed voltage from 1.2V to 36V. Application

LT1074CT#PBF is a versatile integrated high efficiency, wide input voltage DC/DC Step-Down switching regulator. It accepts an input voltage from 3V to 42V and produces an output voltage of 1.2V to 36V. It can supply output currents up to 5A by using one external switch. This DC/DC Step-Down switching regulator is suitable for use in applications such as notebook PCs, handheld devices, and other mobile equipment, battery powered systems, automotive applications, MP3 players, digital cameras, infotainment systems and process control systems.In addition, LT1074CT#PBF is acoustically quiet operation is also a feature of it. Due to its low noise, this Switcher can be used in applications with very sensitive noise requirements such as medical and audio equipment. The use of external compensation network can allow for external loop compensation, such as ripple cancellation or enhanced transients response.

Working Principle

The LT1074CT#PBF is a switch mode DC/DC Step-Down switcher. It can deliver current up to 5A with a single external switch, using a closed-loop switching Scheme. The switcher will detect the input source voltage and then drives the external switch accordingly. The external switch will be used to regulate the output voltage to the desired value.The LT1074CT#PBF features an on-chip error amplifier, an integrated 2A P-Channel MOSFET, an integrated 2A N-Channel MOSFET, an integrated 0.5A N-Channel MOSFET, and an adjustable current limit circuitry. The current limit circuitry will detect an output current over-load condition and switch off the switch drive transistor, preventing any further output current from being drawn.The switching frequency of the LT1074CT#PBF can be set between 0.25kHz to 1.4MHz. This enables low-noise operation as well as higher frequency operation for higher efficiency and faster transient response. The DC/DC Step-Down conversion stability is ensured by an internal loop compensation network. The device also features thermal shutdown protection and over voltage protection.
