The LT1076HVCT-5#PBF is a three terminal positive adjustable voltage regulator designed to supply 5A of output current over a wide input voltage range from 2.5V to 20V. It is classified within the field of PMIC, under Voltage Regulators and DC DC Switching Regulators. It is a monolithic PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) regulator which utilizes a unique architecture with an integrated drive circuit, enabling excellent performance in a very small package. The LT1076HVCT-5#PBF is housed in a thermally enhanced 5mmx5mm surface mount package and offers the user a preset output voltage of either 1.24V, 1.8V, 2.75V and 4.0V, with a 5% initial accuracy, as shown in the datasheet. The device also offers an adjustable voltage range from 0.8V to 6V and provides an output current of up to 5A with excellent line and load regulation rate.The LT1076HVCT-5#PBF is configured in an adjustable voltage regulator circuit and contains a pulse width modulated (PWM) controller whose output voltage is compared to an internal or external reference voltage. This comparison results in an error signal that is used to control the on time of the external power switch and a current limiter to provide the necessary output current levels. When the power switch is turned on, current flows through the inductor and it builds up to the peak value. Then the switch is turned off and the inductor continues to deliver current, as the current passes through the Schottky diode to produce output voltage in the sense resistor. The error amplifier senses this output voltage and compares it to the reference voltage. The output of the error amplifier is then used to control the on time of the power switch and the output voltage through a series of feedback loops. The LT1076HVCT-5#PBF is characterized by fast transient response with a minimum of 20µs output energy storage time, as well as low output voltage ripple in the range of 150mV-200mV, both of which are important factors when reducing EMI emissions and noise. The device also offers good line regulation, keeping the output voltage within 1%, in addition to excellent load regulation with a minimum of ±4mV/A. Furthermore, the LT1076HVCT-5#PBF contains integrated protection of onboard devices and allows the user to maintain efficiency.
