The LT1259CS#TRPBF is a general-purpose wide-bandwidth, high-gain, rail-to-rail output op amp that can deliver a terminal voltage of up to 5 volts. It is used in a wide range of applications, including amplifying signals, controlling frequencies, and amplifying low level signals. Its high-gain, rail-to-rail output make it suitable for low voltage, low voltage gain applications and very high voltage gains applications.

The LT1259CS#TRPBF has an excellent slew rate, with a maximum of 10 volts per microsecond, and a gain of more than 60dB. It has a low noise figure of 0.8dB and a wide frequency range of up to 5 MHz. Working principle

The LT1259CS#TRPBF utilizes a single-ended input stage for amplifying single-ended input signals and a dual-ended differential mode for amplifying the average of two differential inputs. The differential mode is comprised of two NPN transistors connected in a differential configuration.

The single-ended input stage amplifies a single-ended input signal by a gain determined by the ratio of input/output transistor sizes. The ratio of the NPN transistor’s collector-to-emitter voltage to the emitter-to-base voltage determines the gain. The differential mode amplifies the average of two inputs by a gain determined by the ratio of the PNP/NPN transistor sizes. If a standard PNP is used, the gain will be close to unity. If a higher-gain NPN is used, the gain will be higher.

The output stage of the LT1259CS#TRPBF is designed to provide rail-to-rail performance, allowing the output voltage to reach both the positive and negative supply voltages with a minimum of distortion. This stage is comprised of a common-emitter output stage with a PNP/NPN combination in a differential configuration. The output transistors are biased in such a way as to allow them to handle large output swings.
