The LT1507CS8 belongs to the family of DC DC switching regulators referred to as PMIC (power management integrated circuits). This switch mode regulator is a digitally enabled high speed synchronous two-phase step-down (buck) converter. LT1507CS8 is intended to simplify the design of DC-DC converters requiring high efficiency and wide output voltage range. It comes in a tiny 3 mm × 3 mm QFN package and can deliver up to 8 A of output current.
The LT1507CS8 operates with an input voltage range of 4.5 V to 40 V and is capable of providing outputs as low as 0.6 V with selectable modes of pulse frequency modulation (PFM) or pulse width modulation (PWM). The device also features a power-optimizing logic that quickly cycles among PWM and the two PFM modes to maintain highest efficiency across a wide load current range. The device’s high efficiency allows it to reduce up to 93% of the power losses compared to linear regulators.
