LT1576CS8-5#TRPBF is an integrated DC-DC switching regulator. It contains internal control circuitry for controlling the on-time of the switch, and for controlling the output voltage over voltage, current limit, and short circuit protection circuits.
This IC is a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) step-down switching regulator. It has two power stages: an internal high-side NFET and an internal low-side NFET. The load is connected to the output pin, and the input power supply is connected directly to the VIN pin. The input voltage must be higher than the regulated output voltage, and can be up to 48V maximum.
Important to note is that the IC is overvoltage protected the VIN pin voltage must be 36V or lower. If the VIN voltage exceeds this level without the IC having previously shut down, the input voltage protection circuit will activate and reduce the IC’s power dissipation.
The switching frequency is programmable between 200kHz and 2.0MHz. The switch on period can be set to any value between 2µs and 3µs, with the maximum on-time being limited by the maximum switch current.
The output voltage can be adjusted from 1.235V to 5V by external resistors connected to VFB and GND pins. This IC has a fixed output voltage accuracy of ±2.0%. Other features of this product include input undervoltage lockout, load disconnect, fast load transient response, and overtemperature protection.
To adjust the output voltage a voltage divider is used, which must be connected to the VFB and ground pins. As the amount of resistance from the VFB to ground increases, more current is pulled from the VFB pin and the output voltage is increased.
