LT1959CR#TRPBF is a monolithic, synchronous switching regulator with a pair of internal power MOSFETs. It has been designed for high performance and power density applications in 48V distributed power systems and is suitable for a wide range of non-isolated and isolated DC/DC converter topologies. It provides excellent regulation and transient response, while achieving high efficiency and low output noise. The LT1959CR#TRPBF is available in a variety of packages and features an integrated 32V output boost switch which enables it to operate up to twice the input voltage.

Working Principle

The LT1959CR#TRPBF is a synchronous buck regulator that uses two internal power MOSFETs, one as a synchronous rectifier and one as the switch. The power MOSFETs are controlled by PWM logic that provides accurate feedback control of the output voltage. As the output voltage increases, the power MOSFET turns off and current flows through the synchronous rectifier into the output, reducing the output voltage. As the output voltage decreases, the power MOSFET turns on and the current flows from the input to the output, increasing the output voltage. The synchronous rectifier also helps to minimize switching losses and improve efficiency.

The LT1959CR#TRPBF also includes an adjustable soft-start function which limits the inrush current and prevents input issues due to the large capacitive load of the output. The circuit also features a Light Load Mode which ensures power savings in light load conditions.
