LT3745EUJ-1 is a PMIC - LED Drivers device that enables low-cost, high-efficiency driving of LEDs for automotive and general lighting applications.LT3745EUJ-1 is designed to provide superior ESD protection, high efficiency and increased system reliability.Moreover, it provides up to 1.2A output current, support both digital and analog dimming, and provides a programmable current limit.
LT3745EUJ-1 consists of a high-voltage boost converter which is capable of driving one LED string up to 45V, a High-Side PFET switch, and a current sense amplifier. The LED string is connected to the OUT node which is protected through ESD diodes to improve system’s Reliability. An optocoupler provides open-loop current control. The DC/DC boost converter operates in valley-fill mode, with an input voltage range of 9V to 45V, and an output voltage up to 45V. An internal PWM comparator is used to control the duty cycle of the output stage through the CS pin. The UVLO pin is an under voltage lockout pin that turns off the IC and disables the output transistor gate to prevent over current and system direct short when the power supply voltage is lower than the recommended value.
The LT3745EUJ-1 can be programmed through a digital dimming interface, or through an analog voltage or current. A wide range of dimming capability is provided, from 0.1% to 98%, with a programmable dimming frequency from 0.5Hz to 10MHz. The dimming interface is enabled by the PWMEN pin.
The LT3745EUJ-1 includes an adjustable on-time control circuit with pre-biased OVP sense pin. This feature allows the LED load to be quickly discharged in the case of an over voltage event, as well as prevent saturation of the output transistor that could cause system damage.
The charge pump regulator includes a pre-biased high-side current sense amplifier with adjustable over temperature and over current protection. This ensures that the LED load is continuously monitored and protected from excessive current and high junction temperatures. In addition, the IC features a programmable current limit that maintains the output current constant even when the input voltage varies.
The LT3745EUJ-1 also integrates a shutdown mode. This mode is activated when the LED current drops below a programmable threshold. In shutdown mode, the LED current is reduced to zero, thus saving power and protecting the LED load.
LT3745EUJ-1 also provides a range of enable input for different system control. It is compatible with multiple control environment such as an enable signal from a microcontroller, DC voltage or current, or a light sensing device.
The LT3745EUJ-1 indicates system fault condition through the FAULT pin. When the FAULT pin is active, the outputs are disabled and the LEDs are turned off. This provides a failsafe mechanism that prevents possible system damage due to over-temperature or over-current conditions.
