LT3762IUFD#TRPBF belongs to PMIC--LED Drivers, which is an efficient LED driver families with an integrated DC/DC converter that performs constant current regulation at up to 98% efficiency.This LED driver integrates both an inductor and an adaptive on-time boost controller, allowing it to operate with high efficiency LED strings over a wide application range of input voltages. It supports up to 36 LEDs in series and delivers up to 6.5A peak output current. The output voltage is locked to the VLED pin voltage that is internally regulated to 4.75V for optimal efficiency, and is programmable using an external resistor. Constant currents of up to 750mA can be set with accuracy of 1% or better. The device can be configured in buck, buck-boost or boost mode, allowing it to adapt to any input voltage. The input voltage range starts at 2.5V and can go up to 28V. The high efficiency of the device is due to the buck architecture at low input voltage and its 3-step adaptive on-time control. It also features dual synchronous Rectifiers for regulated output, integrated loop compensation, programmable current sense sense window and 7-bit soft start for controlled ramp rates. The minimal standby power allows the total power loss to be only 30mW in the highest efficiency mode.The LT3762IUFD#TRPBF features the typical applications of professional LED lighting, mobile phones and media players, automotive LED lightings, e-book readers, and motion detection LED lightings. It is ideal for any application requiring a simple LED driver with high efficiency.In terms of working principle, the device can operate in both buck and buck-boost mode. The buck mode provides a simple solution to drive an LED string with a single inductor. In buck mode, the input is powered directly by a battery or a5V-28V power supply. The control system monitors the LED current and regulates it by controlling the duty cycle of the switch. In buck-boost mode, the control system continues to monitor the LED current and regulates it. The boost converter switches and regulates the LED string current by controlling the duty cycle of the switch. The buck-boost mode can be used for applications that require a wide range of input voltages and withstand brief surges.The device includes an adaptive on-time control loop that simplifies the design and improves efficiency by determining the optimal duty cycle for the desired LED current. The variable frequency PWM control regulates the boost converter switching frequency from 650kHz to 400kHz. Additionally, the device integrates dual synchronous rectifiers for regulated output, programmable current method control, PWM to analog dimming control, and an integrated loop compensation for low EMI.The features of the LT3762IUFD#TRPBF combine high efficiency and flexibility, allowing the device to be used in a plethora of applications where a precise LED current is required.
