Working Principle of LT3798EMSE#PBF
The LT3798EMSE#PBF is a Power Factor Correction (PFC) with Resonant LLC Flyback topology power supply controller. It can achieve very high efficiency due to the resonant ringing at the LLC secondary side. The basic operation of the power supply is similar to a conventional PFC with flyback architecture. The input voltage is rectified to DC by a bridge rectifier. With the PFC front end, the DC voltage is used to drive an LLC tank to convert the DC voltage into AC voltage. The AC voltage is then rectified and filtered to obtain the output DC voltage. The secondary side of the LLC tank is driving by the Resonant LLC control including the 16 steps of phase shift to produce a narrow frequency range of ringing. The programmable features of the LT3798EMSE#PBF are capable of adjusting the switching frequencies, deadtime, slope compensation and current limit. The phase shift also allows fine tuning of the output power level.

The system also includes integrated gate drivers, as well as protection features such as over-voltage, under-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, and over-current protection. The high current gate drivers are capable of driving large MOSFETs for high power applications up to 1kW. The high integration reduces the extra external components and guarantee the reliability of the power system.
