The LT3970IDDB-3.3#TRPBF is a DC-DC switching regulator. This voltage regulator is designed to step-down high voltage supply and provides an adjustable stable dc output across a wide load range with a limited number of external components.
The DC-DC switching regulator features a synchronous buck design. It uses the high-side PMOS switch for improved efficiency and the low-side NMOS switch for low current ripple. At the same time, it integrates 4A N-channel MOSFETs to reduce component count and improve system reliability. In addition, it also provides a power good output signal, under voltage lockout & thermal shutdown protection.
The LT3970IDDB-3.3#TRPBF is highly integrated, which makes it ideal for a variety of applications. These include power management systems for telecommunications, drones, cable modems, industrial, mobile applications and power management for ultra low-power microprocessors/MCUs.
The DC-DC switching regulator can be operated in either the current mode or voltage mode enforcing the load line. In current mode, the peak current is controlled, making it easier to set up the regulator. It can modulate the output voltage from the voltage mode control, which is more flexible, but more tedious to handle.
In addition to the adjustable buck operation, the LT3970IDDB-3.3#TRPBF also offers a constant current output mode. This allows the regulator to draw a constant current, while maintaining the output voltage. This is particularly useful for low power applications such as LEDs.
The LT3970IDDB-3.3#TRPBF can operate between 0.65V and 4.5V, with an output voltage range of 0.8V to 3.3V, and can provide an output current of up to 4A. The load current regulation is 0.08V and the output voltage deviation is 0.8%, making it an ideal solution for high current and low noise applications.
The regulator also boasts a high efficiency of up to 94% and low quiescent current of only 8.3mA. It is capable of operating in both continuous and discontinuous conduction modes and allows for a wide range of switching frequencies, allowing for flexible frequency hopping schemes.
