The LT3990IDD#TRPBF is a series of flexible, high-performance, high-efficiency DC-DC synchronous step-down switching regulators. It operates over a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, and is able to deliver up to 5A of continuous output current. Regulated output voltage settings are extremely flexible, and can be set as low as 0.6V with a precision reference of 0.5%. It also includes multiple advanced protection features, such as over-temperature protection, overcurrent protection, and short-circuit protection.The LT3990IDD#TRPBF can be used for a variety of applications, including but not limited to: industrial control, motor drives, automotive control, LED lighting, and medical systems. It is also suitable for use in battery-powered systems, such as portable computers, tablets, and mobile phones.The LT3990IDD #TRPBF can be used in a variety of topologies, including buck, boost, buck-boost, and SEPIC. It can also be operated in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) for higher efficiency at light load. It includes a variable frequency feature which allows for switching frequency adjustments up to 1MHz in order to optimize efficiency and minimize noise.The LT3990IDD #TRPBF implements a current-mode control scheme with a fixed frequency, peak current-mode architecture. This ensures phase lock and cycle-by-cycle current limiting at light load; prevention of sub-harmonic oscillations and output glitches; optimum transient response; and clean start-up and shut down.The LT3990IDD #TRPBF also includes an adjustable soft-start time feature, which allows the user to determine the rate at which the output voltage ramps up on start-up. This enables a smooth transition from no load to light and heavy loads.Overall, the LT3990IDD #TRPBF provides a high level of flexibility and high-efficiency performance for a variety of applications.
