It has a wide input voltage supported from 2 V to 18 V, is able to provide the outputcurrent up to 8 A. Application Field and Working Principle
LT8362HMSE#TRPBF is primarily intended for board-level Point-of-Load (POL) power systems, isolated power systems and battery powered applications in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications while oferingvoer-amilion-hour MTBF (MeanTimeBetween Failures) data. This device can also be used to provide up to 3.2 A load current and is suitable for two-cell, three-cell and four-cell alkaline, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH andLi-Ion battery powered systems and multiple output VR12 systems.
As for its working principle, theLT8362HMSE#TRPBF is an integrated circuit designed to operate as adoubleinverter.Itconsistsof twopoweredtransistors: an n-type MOSFET and a p-type MOSFET. The key concept of the circuit is that the input voltage is applied to the gate of the n-type MOSFET, and the load voltage is connected to the gate of the p-type MOSFET. Most ofthe input energy is converted into output energy by switching the power n-type andp-type MOSFETs alternately at a fixed rate, as determined by the switching frequency. The switching frequency is set by an internal oscillator and can be varied from 50 kHz to 800 kHz.
For each switching cycle, current flows when the n-type MOSFETis turned on, charging the output capacitor. Then, when the p-type MOSFET is turned on, current flows from the output capacitor to the load. This is the basic principle of operation of the LT8362HMSE#TRPBF. The power loss in each cycle is determined by the peak Output Switch Current. The Output Switch Current is programmed using a Current Limit function, which can be set between 0.5 A and 8 A.
