The difference in these two voltages is then amplified and integrated by an error amplifier, producing an error signal which is then used to drive the output voltage of the device. The integrated high and low side FETs switch on and off at the error signal, which causes the output voltage to decrease or increase depending on the difference between the error signal and the internal reference voltage.The differential input voltage is converted to a single control voltage Vc which is compared to an internal reference voltage Vref. The output of the error amplifier is proportional to the difference between the reference voltage and the control voltage. The output voltage is determined by the feedback voltage of the error amplifier relative to the reference voltage, and the output current is determined by the output voltage, the switching frequency and the duty cycle of the FETs.When the switch is turned on, the inductor current ramps up at the rate determined by the input voltage and the inductor value. When the peak current reaches the current limit threshold, the FETs are turned off and the inductor current begins to decay as it is discharged through the output capacitor. When the current reaches the end of decay value (Ipeak−Ipk), the cycle is repeated.
