The Linear Technology LTC1967IMS8#TRPBF is a precision, micropower voltage-controlled, low-dropout, regulated charge pump and RMS-to-DC converter. This device is specially designed for applications that require low power dissipation, no load regulation and very high accuracy over temperature. This device is an excellent choice for powering medical applications, audio systems, RF measurement systems, microphones and LED lighting.
The LTC1967IMS8#TRPBF removes the need for a linear regulator and its associated power losses to accurately convert RMS input voltages to a precisely regulated differential output voltage. The output is set by the application of an external reference voltage between the VREF pins and COM1. This device can output up to 15V, when the VREF input is 10V and utilizing an external LDO regulator. The output is current limited by a fold-back current limit feature and is protected from short circuit conditions by a shutdown pin.
The device includes separate enable and shutdown pins, giving it the flexibility to turn the device on or off with a single logic level change. This device also features very low quiescent current. When enabled the device typically consumes only 88µA of current. When in shutdown mode, the supply current typically drops to 2µA.
The device also features precision accuracy and reliability, with temperature drift up to 0.02% over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. This device also utilizes fast turn-on and turn-off times, allowing for precise regulation of load currents. The high efficiency of the LTC1967IMS8#TRPBF eliminates the need for bulky heat-sinking and the associated power losses, allowing it to be used in a variety of applications.
