Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) play an integral role in the vast array of electronics used in modern day applications. The LTC2160IUK#PBF is a Two CHIP™, low power sigma delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that combines an ultra-fast 16-bit successive approximations register (SAR) ADC with a dynamic single supply and low noise track-and-hold amplifier. The two-channel system comprises an input buffer and a data converter. The input buffer provides up to 181 MHz bandwidth and very low distortion with a single supply of 2.8V to 5V. The low distortion input buffer is cascadable for higher channel counts.

The two-channel SAR ADC implements a high performance architecture to provide 16-bit resolution at throughput rates up to 1 mega samples per second (MSPS). The ADC contains low noise delta-sigma modulators, digital filters, a high speed successive approximation register (SAR), and track-and-hold implementation. The ADC is optimized to provide high speed performance, excellent linearity, and low distortion.

The DRB comes with an active reference voltage buffer. The ref buffer allows the device to simultaneously maintain low power dissipation and low noise performance even under varying load conditions. An optional bypass mode is available which allows bypassing of the reference buffer. The reference buffer also can be externally supplied when full performance is required.

The device is compliant with the latest IEC 61000-4-2, Level 3 (8 kV) ESD specifications. The LTC2160 also features a single-cycle reset allowing the user to reset input/output parameters on demand without the need for a system reset.
