Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) includes a wide range of applications, from telecommunications and consumer electronics to industrial, manufacturing and military applications. It allows us to convert the analog signals from a range of sources, such as sensors, for digital processing. The LTC2217CUP#TRPBF is an 8-Bit successive approximation register (SAR)-based ADC developed for use in various applications.
The LTC2217CUP#TRPBF contains a low power, high performance, 8-bit ADC with an input sample range from ±0.25V to ±5V single-ended. It is designed to operate from ±3V to ±12V dual supplies, taking only 10.5 mA with 350 μs continuous conversion time. It is based on the Linear Technology patented SAR architecture and features a simple 3-wire serial interface, low power, and excellent system performance.
The LTC2217CUP#TRPBF has a unipolar single-ended input range of 0V to 5V on the AIN+ input and includes attenuation resistors, allowing the input signal to be connected to virtually any user-defined power source as well as allowing the user to control the sensitivity of the ADC to noise and other environmental issues. It also has an adjustable input sampling rate between 0.5 kHz and 40 kHz, allowing for use in a variety of applications such as motor speed and current feedback control, temperature and pressure monitoring, and real-time process control.
This ADC provides a wide range of features and benefits, from simple digital output that is easy to interface to digital signal processing devices and microcontrollers, reduced power consumption, and low system cost. The LTC2217CUP#TRPBF has a versatile range of software-selectable hardware features, aiding integration into various applications. It can be operated in either the self-calibrating SAR mode or in the dual Successive Approximation Register (SAR) mode, allowing for both low-noise and high-speed applications.
The LTC2217CUP#TRPBF includes many other features, such as selectable analog input sensitivity, differential voltage range from 60mV to 500mV, and an output data rate of 4.8KHz. The output data rate is adjustable from 16 Hz to 2KHz, allowing for accurate adjustment of the sampling rate for each application. The operating temperature range can be specified to operate over the -40°C to +85°C, allowing for use in a variety of environments.
The LTC2217CUP#TRPBF contains a high-side, high-voltage protection circuit that prevents damage to the device in the event of input voltages above the rail.
