The LTC2221IUP#PBF is a low power, high speed, low noise, CMOS data acquisition analog to digital converter (ADC). It is designed for a variety of applications, including battery-powered systems, automotive, industrial and medical. The LTC2221IUP#PBF is suitable for measuring low amplitude signals in noise-immune environments such as compounding with other signals.
Operational Description: The LTC2221IUP#PBF data acquisition analog to digital converter contains an analog front-end, a sample and hold circuit, a track-and-hold circuit, an input multiplexer and a digital encoder. The analog front-end consists of a series of filters, noise sources and a programmable gain amplifier which performs level shifting and gain setting as required. The sample and hold and track-and-hold circuitry is used for signal capture and storage of analog samples for conversion to digital signals. The multiplexer allows a selection of up to 16 input channels. The digital encoder converts the analog signals to digital values utilizing successive-approximation techniques.
The LTC2221IUP#PBF offers a wide range of features that ensure superior performance. It is available in 8-, 10-, and 12-bit resolution and offers up to 16 analog inputs. The device contains an integrated precision bandgap based reference and also provides an internal reference adjustment. It offers sampling rates up to 80 MSPS, integrated low-dropout voltage references, an ultra-low power track-and-hold circuit and power dissipation of only 7.3 mW. It is suitable for low power systems and is ideal for automotive, industrial and medical applications.
The LTC2221IUP#PBF also features a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) for level shifting and gain setting for measuring low amplitude signals. The PGA can amplify any input signal from -15 dBFS to 15 dBFS and can be set to any gain from -15 dBFS to +15 dBFS. The digital encoder is programmed to convert the analog input signals to digital output codes. The digital output codes are in power of two’s complement binary format with one bit to represent the sign.
