The LTC2361HS6#TRMPBF is a high-performance, low-power, 16-bit, 1.0 Msps SAR ADC, integrated in a 16-pin, 3 mm × 3 mm, thin QFN package. It is specified in the –40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range and offers a −92 dBc ENOB at 1.0 Msps.The device includes a versatile analog front end, with both true and pseudo-differential inputs, along with various input and reference buffer configurations, allowing great flexibility for different types of data acquisition applications. Low power consumption across the entire operating temperature range, along with robust EMC performance make it ideal for a variety of automotive and industrial applications such as ATE, weigh scales, industrial data-logging and digital-audio interfaces. The device also has a fully-customizable digital skeleton, which allows users to tailor the interfacing logic to their specific application. It has low power consumption, less than 4.9 mW for a full conversion cycle at 1.0 Msps and 3.2 mW at 0.5 Msps. The LTC2361HS6#TRMPBF is an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that uses successive approximation register (SAR) architecture. The SAR is a widely used non-integrating type ADC, which uses successive approximations to achieve a digital representation of the analog input. The input signal is sampled and held by an analog switch, connected to a switched-capacitor integrating capacitor array. The SAR chronologically steps through the capacitor array until a match is obtained between the analog input voltage and a reference voltage. The number of steps required to obtain a match is translated into a digital value that is output as the result of the conversion. The main advantage of SAR architecture is its speed of conversion.
