A supply voltage is monitored by two comparators; one for the upper threshold and one for the lower threshold. When the supply voltage falls below the configured lower threshold, a voltage under-tolerance flag is set and a reset output is triggered. Similarly, when the supply voltage exceeds the configured upper threshold, a voltage over-tolerance flag is set, a maskable interrupt can be enabled, and a reset output will be triggered.The device also has an adjustable over-current threshold that can be used to shut down the system in the event of an excessive current draw. If the current draw exceeds the given threshold, the device triggers a reset output and sets the over-current flag. This can be used for load disconnect in the event of an overload or battery safety monitoring in battery-backed circuits.The device also provides temperature sensing. It has a user-configurable temperature alert threshold. If the temperature exceeds this threshold, the device will generate a maskable interrupt and/or reset output. This feature can be used to shut down the system when the temperature rises to an unacceptable level, providing thermal protection to the circuit.Finally, the device has adjustable output control. A system enable input provides an easy way to control output enable/disable. A system reset input allows for manual reset and can be used for things like brown-out or power-on-reset. The reset output on the device can be programmed to provide a reset of a variety of durations, including a manual reset signal that can be held low for up to ten minutes.All of these features make the LTC2911CDDB-1 an attractive choice for power management applications. It provides a way to monitor voltage and current levels, detect a temperature increase, and provide manual reset and output control. With its small size and 5-pin configuration, it is also easy to install in even the most compact boards.
