Working principle

Power supply monitor is used to detect the level of the input power supply, with accuracy of ± 5% or less deviation from the target voltage under normal operation. Low battery monitor will trip if the battery voltage falls below its programmed threshold value, and the brownout monitor can detect a drop of supply voltage below its threshold.

The LTC2960HTS8-4 also features temperature monitor and voltage sequencer/monitor functions. The temperature monitor is used to detect an over temperature condition in a system, while the voltage sequencer/monitor regulates the reduction and start-up of power rail voltages.

Finally, the reset control function is used to control reset initiaton and/or shutdown. The reset signal can be configured to trigger either upon a power-on reset, a low battery reset, or a brownout reset. The reset output can be programmed for a fixed timeout or set for one-shot operation.
