The LTC3118IFE#TRPBF is a dual-output, monolithic step-down switching regulator, designed for use as a direct or transformer-coupled regulator in place of a larger, more expensive linear regulator in a wide range of applications, including automotive, industrial and medical applications. It also offers a wide range of output options and has extremely low noise performance and high efficiency at heavy load.The LTC3118IFE#TRPBF is a direct-transformer-coupled and provides regulated output in a wide range of output voltages and current levels. Its inputs can operate from over a wide range of voltages, allowing it to regulate output voltage drops from 8V to 28V with ±2.5% accuracy. In addition, the output can be adjusted anywhere within 5% of its maximum current, allowing the user to set an optimal level of regulation for their application.In order to achieve its exceptional performance and efficiency, the LTC3118IFE#TRPBF is based on a number of novel design principles. These include a low-noise, high-efficiency switching architecture, synchronous rectifier technology, the use of thermal compensation and the advanced PFC-GAIN regulator topology. As a result, the user will benefit from superior power efficiency, low output voltage ripple, excellent transient response and an over-voltage protection that is adjusted for a safe operation.The LTC3118IFE#TRPBF is designed to meet the tightest standards of both industrial and automotive EMI requirements. It incorporates a low-noise linear system in order to reduce conducted and radiated interference. At the same time, its high peak current capabilities and duty cycle of over 70% ensure that it can cope with increased demand.The LTC3118IFE#TRPBF utilizes a wide range of features which result in exceptional performance. For instance, it is capable of operating under high ambient temperatures as well as extreme humidity, thanks to its wide range of output voltage and current levels. In addition, it has a very efficient low-noise architecture and can deliver up to 95% power efficiency while maintaining a very low noise level.The LTC3118IFE#TRPBF has a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and a maximum output current of 6A. It has an over-voltage reset function and is able to reset when the output voltage rises above a certain point. Finally, it is able to withstand several types of over-voltage events, such as load dump, transient over-voltage and reverse polarity voltages.In summary, the LTC3118IFE#TRPBF is a powerful and efficient monolithic step-down switching regulator, capable of providing regulated output in a wide range of output voltages and current levels.
